Description
Delivered in 2024 and showing only demonstration mileage, “Calabash” is the latest iteration of the 80-foot performance cruiser developed by Javier Jaudenes and the YYachts design studio, with a minimalist Scandinavian interior by David Thulstrup. A wider stern, mast stepped well aft and a full-carbon, epoxy-sandwich structure give the yacht the stability and sail-carrying power of a much larger super-sloop, while keeping displacement below 40 t.
Key highlights
Carbon construction throughout – hull, deck, Axxon mast and V-boom – painted in a custom light-hull PU finish and laid with natural-teak decks.
Twin sail-drive propulsion driven by a single Yanmar 4LV-195 (143 kW) for quiet running and excellent manoeuvrability; retractable bow and stern thrusters add fingertip control in tight marinas.
Easy-sail package: Harken electric primary winches, hydraulic jib-halyard tensioner, Bamar electric Code-0 furler and Doyle 2024 wardrobe (square-top main, self-tacking jib, Code 0, blue & red gennakers).
Mediterranean amenities – 19 kW Fischer-Panda genset, 62 000 BTU Frigomar chilled-water A/C, Schenker Zen 150 l/h water-maker, Quooker boiling & sparkling water tap, twin cockpit and galley drawer fridges.
Contemporary three-cabin layout: full-beam owner’s suite forward, two double guest cabins amidships (all en-suite), plus an aft crew zone with separate entrance, galley and mess.
Tech & connectivity: B&G Zeus3S navigation suite with twin 16-inch plotters, Nemesis race displays, Halo 20+ radar, Peplink 5 G router with three APs, and a Sonos salon/cockpit sound system.
