Description

Initially the ClubSwan 42 was built for each of 20 New York Yacht Club members. This one design class was then used to start the New York Yacht Club Invitational Regatta which is now one of the most prestigious of regattas in the world today. A healthy one design fleet continues to race in the Mediterranean. 

REVOLUTION, ex THE CAT CAME BACK, is hull number 12 and she id presently under her second ownership. She has only been sailed in New England each summer, never going south for the winter. 

REVOLUTION has a new set of race sails (see below under RIGGING) and the JP3 rudder bearings have recently been replaced. Otherwise, REVOLUTION has been maintained to a very high level and she is ready to get back onto the race course with minimal preparation.


HULL

  • Infusion molded E-glass / vinylester laminate with carbon reinforcements in selected areas.
  • Sandwich with closed cell foam cored hull, with higher density foam in bottom and slamming areas.
  • Fiber reinforcements are multiaxial and unidirectional.
  • Structural bulkheads are of veneered sandwich construction or marine grade waterproof plywood.
  • Watertight bulkhead at bow, drained fore peak.
  • Bottom stiffeners reinforced with unidirectional carbon and multiaxial glassfibre in selected areas.
  • GRP engine beds.
  • Stainless chainplate deck fittings.
  • Awlgrip blue painted topsides.
  • White single sheer stripe.
  • Double white waterline stripe.
  • T-keel, steel fin with Antimony alloyed lead bulb and with upper flange recessed into hull.
  • The fin is bolted to hull with high tensile steel bolts.
  • Foam filled rudder blade of GRP from female mold. 
  • Carbon/epoxy stock. 
  • An aluminum quadrant, Dynema steering with chain and sprocket.
  • The JP3 upper and lower rudder bearings are self-aligning (both replaced 2022).

  • Built-in GRP foot chocks for helmsman/tactician and mainsheet trimmer and built-in GRP foot chocks at center line in cockpit.
  • Additional tilting platform at each helm to allow helmsman to stand level.
  • There is a boarding ladder aft and a flagpole holder on stern.
