Description
EPOCH — A Proven Blue-Water Bavaria Ocean 47, Refit & Ready for the Next ChapterÂ
If you’ve been waiting for a true offshore cruising yacht—one with the size, systems, and pedigree to cross oceans comfortably—Epoch deserves your attention right now.Â
This Bavaria Ocean 47 is not a production coastal cruiser. She was designed for serious passagemaking: a strong hull, powerful rig, generous tankage, and a layout that works offshore as well as at anchor for months at a time. One of her most desirable blue-water features is her center cockpit, which provides a more protected helm, excellent visibility, and separation between the living spaces—ideal for long-range cruising and liveaboard comfort.Â
Between 2022 and 2025, Epoch underwent an extensive ~$95,000 refit, with critical systems upgraded and refreshed so the next owner isn’t starting from scratch. The result is a turn-key, extended-cruising Bavaria Ocean 47—updated where it counts with new rigging, modern navigation, solar + Victron energy management, LED lighting, and key running-gear improvements.
- Custom blinds (Fall 2025)
- Black water hoses (Fall 2025)
- Mast rewired
- New standing rigging
- New running rigging
- New lifelines
- All lighting converted to LED
- New rudder bearings/bushings
- New cutlass bearing
Energy & Power System
- 600-watt solar array
- Victron MultiPlus II inverter/charger
- 2 × 300Ah LiFePO4 batteries
- Victron Orion DC/DC charger
- Victron Cerbo GX controller with touchscreen
- Axiom 9 Pro
- Quantum 2 Doppler color radar
- (2) i70 multifunction displays
- i60 analog wind instrument
- Evolution autopilot with p70 head
- Em-Trak Class B AIS
- Navionics+ charts (good through 12/2025)
Timeless Elegance. Ocean-Proven. German-Engineered. Built in Giebelstadt, Germany, Epoch is known for hand-laid solid fiberglass construction with Kevlar reinforcement in high-load areas, delivering the kind of confidence you want when the forecast changes and the next safe harbor is a long sail away.Â
This is the kind of yacht that:Â
- Takes you across the Atlantic, not just across the bayÂ
- Feels solid and predictable when conditions deteriorateÂ
- Rewards an owner who wants to sail far, live aboard, and live simply—but wellÂ
Boats like this don’t come along often at a price that makes sense—and they don’t stay available long when the right sailor finds them.Â
Additional Information
Sailing Performance
Under sail, Epoch comes alive. Her finely balanced hull and responsive helm make her a joy to command in light air and boisterous seas. She features a powerful sloop rig with a Selden in-mast furling aluminum mast and a roller furling jib, designed for efficient sail handling and shorthanded cruising ease. For safety and simplicity, all lines are led aft to the cockpit to a pair of self-tailing Harken 46 winches, making her equally suitable for solo sailors or a whole crew.
The Genoa is paired with Harken 56 self-tailing electric winches, ensuring smooth control and reduced fatigue when trimming under load. A rigid vang supports the boom for a stable sail shape in all conditions.
Bavaria's well-balanced spade rudder and wing keel, drafting 5'-7", provide exceptional upwind tracking and confident bluewater performance. She's stiff, surefooted, and surprisingly quick, with nearly 1,000 square feet of working sail area and a layout built for endurance and comfort.
The Bavaria Ocean 47 is regarded as one of the brand's best offshore models—built strong, sailed far, and celebrated for its sea-keeping ability. Epoch proudly continues this legacy. She is not just a sailboat but a vessel of possibility—your gateway to experiencing the world on your terms.
Whether you envision Mediterranean island-hopping, Caribbean passages, or long, lazy anchorages in remote harbors, Epoch is ready to carry you there—in style, comfort, and confidence.
