Description

Bristol Channel Cutter, See Dream, is a wonderful example of the Lyle Hess-designed and Sam Morse-built Bristol Channel Cutter.

1992 Bristol Channel Cutter BCC 28 Hull #71 is a hull and deck version purchased by a knowledgeable sailor who took 5 years to finish her off himself to Sam Morse factory levels and was launched in 1992.

See Dream was launched in Bellingham WA in 1992 where she sailed in the Northwest until she was trucked to the east coast in 1998 for her first of 2 Atlantic Crossings.

For over 25 years See Dream was typically sailed for 2 months each summer in the Mediterranean and then stored on land for the remaining 10 months. When on the hard she was always covered with a full custom cover.

She was sailed back across the Atlantic to the Caribbean in 2023

In 2024 she sailed from Trinidad to Puerto Rico and in 2025 she sailed to Florida.

She is hull #71 done at the Morse factory in Costa Mesa, CA. Special hardware needed to finish the boat was supplied by Sam Morse company. I considered the wonderful gentleman Sam Morse to be a friend. He offered me his advice and also the advice of his shipwrights freely.

The main portholes are unique custom-cast oval portholes, with patterns loaned to me by Larry Pardey.

Upgrades include:

  • New custom spray dodger with side curtains in 2022
  • Interior upholstery in 2024
  • 3 burner Force 10 propane stove 2024
  • New sails in 2017
  • 2 X Solar panels

For those sailors looking for a unique sailing experience and who love the look and the ability of these pocket cruisers See Dreams may work for you.

Walk through

See Dreams has a unique layout below. The chain locker is all the way forward. Then, a double berth runs from side to side and fits over the head. Very comfortable for two guests. There is also storage shelving and a large hanging locker.

There is a head in a self-contained box under the v berth.

Aft is the main salon which has a berth port and starboard. The port berth pulls out to make a double. The table is between the berths. There are shelves for books behind the starboard berth and a small table at the foot of the berth.

Farther aft is the galley, which features a new Force 10 propane stove with an oven, stainless steel sink, Lockers for storage, and a trash bin built into the engine room. Across the cabin is the refrigerator which its top can be used as a chart area. Aft of that is a quarter berth for an extra crewman. There is storage there as well.

There are numerous, custom opening ports for ventilation and a large hatch above the main salon. The engine room is under the companionway in its removable bulkhead.

The engine is a well-maintained Yanmar 30 hp diesel engine.
