Description
Prepped for offshore, this strong versatile Hood centerboard design may be the sailboat you’ve been looking for! Henri Wauquiez was an ocean racer/builder with an impressive reputation. Ted Hood was a top racer, and inventor and built the first international sailmaking company with custom-woven clothes. While worked with Bristol Yachts designer Dieter Empacher in the 1960s Ted Hood founded of Little Harbor Yachts with boats built in several international yards and the Portsmouth, Maine service complex. Snow Goose is 131 of the 179 of the Wauquiez Centerboard Hood 38s built, a MK-II design with easier cockpit access. Repowered with a Beta 50, 2024 Ballard Sails & Rigging rig with new Harkin furler, upgraded instruments, chart plotter and radar, alternator and battery system, this boat has been thoughtfully set up. There are good sails, a hard dodger, Raymarine autopilot, Vesper AIS, and even a Fusion radio controlled by the chartplotter under the dodger. There is both Wallas Diesel and Dickinson propane heat. The 2-burner stove is best for offshore - it gimbles correctly and the brown Wauquiez tile counters have been replaced with a light "corian" type slab. The anchoring system works with a Maxwell windlass, 44 lb. Spade anchor, G-4 chain & Mega-plait rode. Ask for the impressive upgrade list!
