Description

This Robert Perry’s Norseman 447 design is widely considered one of his best off shore/ blue water boats. And DUET is unquestionably one of the finest examples of this beautiful design. Unlike most current-generation production cruisers. This vessel was not designed and built to meet a market-competitive price point or to give the impression of a sea-going condo. Instead, the boat was designed as a no-compromise blue water cruiser. Capable of safe, comfortable offshore passages while easily making 175-mile days with a short-handed crew. She was built by Ta Shing. Considered to be the best boatyard in Asia and one of the best in the world. It features only the highest quality hardware supplied by well-known manufacturers. Including Harken, Schaeffer, Forespar, Hayne, Maxwell, Goiot, and Vassen.

The Norseman 447 Duet represents an incredible value for anyone contemplating offshore voyaging. She has been owned, maintained, and cruised over 40,000 miles by the same knowledgeable and professional mariner for over 30 years. A change in the owner’s plans has made this extraordinary vessel available now at a fraction of its replacement value.

Accommodations

Duet's spacious below-deck layout is designed to provide both comfort and safety. Handrails are placed on both sides of the companionway and conveniently located throughout the boat.

The Aft cabin and main salon bunks have comfortable lee cloths for security. Full 6’ plus standing headroom is provided throughout. DUET sleeps four in two double cabins located forward and aft and two additional single berths are available in the salon. There is a Manual Head aft and an Electric in the forward Head. Both with showers.

10 opening Vassen ports and 5 Goiot hatches provide a bright and airy atmosphere. Additional ventilation is provided by 12v fans located in the galley, nav station, salon, and all berthing areas.

All of the cabins are finished in the Herreshoff style using a combination of teak and white Formica bulkheads with teak moldings and trim. Overhead white Formica panels held in place with teak trim allow easy access to deck fittings. The cabin sole is teak and holly throughout. Upholstery finished in fine-grain leather provides a beautiful appearance with little maintenance and easy cleanup.  The cabinetry fit and finish is exquisite. All drawers are constructed with dovetail joints. Countertops in the galley and both heads are easy-to-maintain Corian.

The companionway is slightly offset to starboard. Providing a spacious double cabin to port with four large drawers and a hanging locker with shelves. A large double-door cabinet is at the foot of the bed. Bookshelves are found around the bed. A small sitting area is just inside the cabin door. Huge storage areas are accessed under the 6” mattress.

The aft head and shower has a fold-down teak grate to use for sitting while showering at sea.  A mirrored medicine cabinet, a double-door linen cabinet, a huge wet locker, and four louvered storage cabinets are provided.  Both hot and cold pressure water, as well as a foot pump are supplied to the fixtures at the sink.

The navigation station is spacious with a chart table sized to easily examine full-size paper nautical charts or utilize a large-screen laptop. The chart table opens to access a deep storage area for laptop computers, navigation tools, manuals, and other items.  A wide curved seat faces forward. Providing comfortable seating regardless of the angle of the heel. The large dedicated chart storage cabinet is integrated into the support for the chart table. SSB/Ham and VHF radios are secured to a wrap-around shelf within easy reach of the nav seat. Electrical panels for 12V DC and 120V AC systems are also within reach. The Pactor III modem and SSB/Ham chassis are mounted out of sight in ventilated cabinets.

To port of the Navigation Station is a spacious U-shaped galley with the counter space necessary for meal preparation at sea. A galley belt provides security during heavy weather. The galley features a 3-burner Force Ten stove and oven with a broiler, two very deep double stainless steel sinks, salt- and freshwater foot pumps, a pull-out pressure water fixture, a built-in refuse receptacle, a top-loading double-door refrigerator, and a microwave oven.  Extensive cabinet and drawer storage is provided to accommodate large pressure cookers, pots, pans, and other essential galley equipment. Refrigeration and tank level displays are bulkhead-mounted within easy view.

Forward of the galley is a beautiful main salon featuring a U-shaped dinette to port and a settee to starboard. Providing comfortable seating for 7-8. Button-tufted leather upholstery with lumbar support, elegant louvered teak cabinets, teak book shelves, and ample natural lighting provide a comfortable setting for dining or relaxing at sea. The starboard settee makes up into secure upper and lower sea bunks with lee cloths.  Extensive storage is available beneath the seating areas.

Forward of the main salon is a head and shower to port With a substantial double door linen storage and two mirrored medicine cabinets.  An opening port and overhead hatch provide ventilation. Opposite the head to starboard is a spacious hanging locker.

The forward cabin features two large drawers beneath the double berth, a hanging locker, and teak cabinets and shelving on both port and starboard sides.  The anchor locker is accessed through a louvered door at the foot of the berth.
