TELSTAR VI is constructed with a hull of teak and oak. She underwent a substantial refit in Malta from 2012 to 2019, where she was completely stripped, partially re-planked, with beams and flooring replaced with laminated beams, re-fastened, and epoxy sheathed. The extensive refit allows for MCA coding.

TELSTAR VI ketch rig boasts carbon fibre spars with hydraulically operated in-mast furling and sail control systems by Lewmar, enabling full single-handed control of the sails from the wheelhouse or outside helm station. Her modern design and large battery bank enable her to sail in silence without generators for over 12 hours at a time using a separate 4 x 24V motor Lewmar power pack.
TELSTAR VI has twin Doosan 338kw engines, driving two shafts, enabling ample power to cruise at 12 knots. Combined with the hydraulic bow thruster, she can be easily sailed by one person and by a crew of two into port and anchorages. Auxiliary equipment includes two Kohler generators equipped with PTOs, a water maker, and a sewage treatment plant for long-term cruising and to comply with worldwide environmental standards.
