SeaVee 340Z: First Look Video
The 2016 SeaVee 340Z center console is built smart. Really smart.
Last year the big news from SeaVee was a new 270Z bay boat, and the year before that, it was the 340Z center console. Now that 340Z has several seasons under its belt, some folks would think it's not exactly newsworthy anymore. They'd be wrong. We ran across a 340Z this winter, climbed aboard, and shot this quick First Look Video. Watch it, and we're pretty darn sure you'll agree that this is a still a boat that's worth talking about.
Few boats that we run across are built with so much common sense, attention to detail, and high quality. Yes, you can find most of these traits to one degree or another in most boats. But on the 340Z it was virtually impossible to find anything that wasn't done in the smartest way. Virtually. Our test boat didn't have a coffin box in the bow—though this is offered as an option—which in my view is a serious omission. Don't order one without it. And while the bowdeck livewell is well-designed, I'm not a big personal fan of stooping and bending every time I need to grab a new bait. Of course, no one boat is perfect for every different person, and there are guys out there who would argue against coffin boxes and for in-deck livewells.
When you weed through all the personal likes and dislikes, however, one thing is very clear about the 340Z: this boat is built by people who really, really know fishing boats. They're smart about it. And if you do your homework as you search for a new center console, SeaVee is bound to be on your short-list.
