Earlier this season, I had the chance to spend a day on the Monterey 385SS, including my non-negotiable long lunch at boat-up restaurant of choice. I even got my chance behind the wheel after some negotiating! The 385SS is sleek, powerful, and it has that perfect blend of performance and luxury. But what really makes the 385SS stand out is how well it balances fun with functionality. Whether you’re into water sports, cruising with friends, or overnight adventures, this boat ticks all the boxes.
Design & Layout: All About Space

The 385SS comes in at 39' 5" in length (12.01 meters) with a beam of 11 feet, giving it plenty of room for up to 12 passengers comfortably. The wide-open layout in both the cockpit and bow seating areas means there’s no shortage of social space. Plus, the extended swim platform is not only practical for water sports but makes a great hangout spot on its own.
Monterey paid attention to the details, with stainless steel fixtures, LED lighting, and luxury finishes that don’t feel over the top but elevate the overall experience.
Performance: Power x Ease

The Monterey 385SS can be configured with triple Mercury Verado engines (either 300HP or 350HP), delivering up to 1200 horsepower. It has the muscle to hit speeds over 50 mph while still handling like a dream, even in less-than-ideal water conditions. The deep-V hull design cuts through chop easily, and joystick controls make docking smooth, which is especially helpful for a boat this size.
It’s a great fit for those looking for a balance between serious performance and ease of use.
Onboard Comfort: Practical Luxury on the Monterey 385SS
Inside, the Monterey 385SS features everything you need for comfortable day trips or weekend getaways. The cabin includes a full galley (complete with a fridge and microwave), a private head, and space to sleep four guests. It’s not a megayacht, but it’s definitely a step above your average day boat. Monterey didn’t skimp on creature comforts, from the Blu-ray player and 40" LED TV to the high-end synthetic wood flooring.
And with a freshwater capacity of 49 gallons and black water capacity of 28 gallons, you can enjoy those extended stays without constantly worrying about refilling or emptying tanks.
