Overview
Build a highly customizable pocket-yacht that’s available with three different power options, including traditional inboards, IPS drives, and in this boat, jet drives.
Concept
- Couple the classic Ray Hunt designed deep-v hull with modern power systems.
- Allow the owner to arrange and accessorize the boat as they desire.
Construction
- Vacuum-bagged and cored hull and deck.
- Trimmed as desired, with teak or stainless-steel accents.
- Twin diesels are coupled to Hamilton jet drives
Performance
- 1.1 miles to the gallon at a cruise in the upper 20’s means the jets are less efficient and offer less speed at cruise.
- Our test boat broke 40 knots at WOT, which is the fastest top-end any of these rigs can offer.
- Jet drive speeds jump significantly at the high end of RPM.
Handling
- Jet drives can make the boat dance on a dime, both at dockside and when underway at high speeds.
- There’s a learning curve, with jets. It may take you some time and experience to become comfortable handling this rig.
Features
- Jets allow for minimal draft, reducing it from 3’0” to 1’10”.
- High level of customization in the bridgedeck arrangement and trim level. You can also get the boat with or without a full hard-top.
- Gotta love that Ray Hunt deep-v hull—it handles waves like a boat with several more feet of LOA.
