Couach 2600 Fly: French Cuisine
This French builder responds to requests for an 80-foot-range cruiser with the Couach 2600 Fly.
Certain size ranges of yachts have been garnering renewed interest lately, among them the 80-foot motoryacht market, and builders with boats in that market—like Princess’s 82, or Cheoy Lee with their 87, aren't the only ones noticing, either. Couach, a France-based builder of mostly bigger boats, has entered the arena for the first time with the 2600 Fly.
Couach has been fielding requests from clients for a few years for a model like this. In combination with one of those very same clients, Couach took the first 2600 Fly from concept to completion in just 14 months’ time.
Couach has built a reputation for swift, stable yachts. The 2600 Fly was engineered to follow suit. Ocram Dos, the name chosen by the owner of the first 2600 Fly, is said to top out at 32 knots and cruise at 25 knots. She’s powered by twin 1,800-hp MANs. Couach also offers optional power packages from Caterpillar and MAN, from 1,200 to 1,900 hp.
The 2600 Fly looks as sporty as she performs. Couach invites its clients to personalize many different aspects of the builds and the owner of Ocram Dos, which has an 86’9” LOA, requested a sliding soft-top for the flying bridge. But as much as the Couach 2600 Fly is a luxury yacht, it’s also practical. The main deck is a fully walk-around affair, for example. There’s also enough space at the foredeck for the owner and guests to lounge without impeding the crew’s working needs.

Another way the 2600 was personalized for the owner: he had seen another Couach, La Pellegrina, and liked the boat’s emphasis on light, bright interiors. He therefore requested the same decor treatment for the 2600 Fly. A nice touch: sliding doors flanking the dining area fully forward. Opened or closed, they bring in even more light.

The 2600 Fly was conceived to bridge the gap between Couach’s 72- and 92-foot models. With a reported 700-nautical-mile range at 25 knots, she can make quick work of coastal cruising and island hopping. Like all Couach yachts, the 2600 Fly is also engineered to give you confidence, especially in sloppy conditions. The builder has long relished treating clients and media alike to sea trials in seas that keep other yachts tied to the dock. Kevlar and carbon fiber are employed in her hull and superstructure, materials that Couach has been using for well more than a decade.
