Customized tow-vehicle turns heads at noted go-fast boat event.
BUCYRUS—Baja's Lucky 7's 35 Outlaw and matching International CXT recently won the award for "Best Tow Rig" at the Chicago Powerboat Club's annual Chicago Poker Run. Awards were given to participants based on style and performance. Proceeds from the event benefited Children's Memorial Hospital of Chicago. The Chicago Powerboat Club's board of directors judged the "Most Impressive Tow Rig" category based on overall aesthetics.
"It was a slam dunk," said Mark Smith, membership director of the Chicago Powerboat Club. "There was a lot of stiff competition, but Lucky 7's paint job put it over the edge." The incredible custom paint job by Baja's in-house design group features the namesake cards on a canvas of bright orange. The InternationalCXT is show-stopping in its own right as the largest production pick-up truck on the market, with a length of 21 feet, nine-foot tall cab and hip-high tires.
Baja's Lucky 7's 35 Outlaw and matching International CXT have been making their way across the country for the Lucky 7's Poker Run Tour. This duo also took home awards for "Best Graphics" and "Best Overall Team" at the Lac St. Pierre Poker Run in Montreal. Lucky 7's wasn't the only winner at the Chicago Poker Run. Thomas Branch, owner of a Baja 342 Performance, won first place for the best poker hand and took home $2,500 in cash and prizes.
The poker run is an annual fundraising event for Children's Memorial Hospital. Baja Marine and its partner Mercury Racing, along with parent company Brunswick Corporation, are proud supporters of the event. Mercury Racing sponsored the poker run, and to further assist this worthy cause, marketing manager, Rick Mackie, in partnership with Baja Marine's director of marketing Barbara Grobicki, presented $500 from Baja Marine and $1,000 from Brunswick Corporation as a direct contribution to the hospital to further support its cause.
"We're so excited that the Lucky 7's 35 Outlaw and International CXT received this recognition," said Barbara Grobicki, Baja's director of marketing. "We're also honored to once again be part of the Chicago Poker Run to help support Children's Memorial Hospital."
