Description
Linssen Grand Sturdy 40.0 AC
from private ownership, 2nd hand, very well maintained with only 1,235 operating hours
The Linssen 40.0 AC is one of the first boats that came onto the market in 2017 as the latest development of the so-called "Dot-Zero Series". The successor to the Linssen 40.9, with many innovative improvements and details. To this day, it remains one of the best-selling models from the Linssen shipyard. The Linssen is powered by a Volvo Penta D3-110. Volvo Penta has discontinued the production of this engine, but you still get a model with the best, most reliable, quietest, and most economical engine from Volvo Penta…
In the test report from 2017, the magazine Boote describes the yacht as follows:
The five-cylinder engine delivers 110 HP and brings the 40.0 to a good 8 knots. Then around 2.7 l/sm of diesel flows through the fuel line, which results in a range of 260 sm plus 15% reserve with the 820-l tank. You can go twice as far at cruising speed of around 6.5 knots (about 2000 rpm), then the Volvo Penta consumes only half at 1.3 l/sm, and there are over 500 sm between fuel stops! At 4 knots, you can even go over 1000 sm.
On a straight course, you let the hull settle briefly and only need to make minor corrections. Especially practical after a turn is the rudder position indicator, which helps you quickly find the center position again. Speaking of turns, in a full-throttle turn, the Grand Sturdy hardly leans to the side but remains almost flat like an iron. Nothing rattles in the cupboards, nor does anything fly off the table. Harbor maneuvers are quickly explained: even without the obviously installed bow and stern thrusters, you can dock safely and precisely.
The driver completes this at a clearly arranged helm station on the aft deck. There, he sits on a kind of pilot seat from Pörtner, which he can adjust in all directions. To comfortably rest his feet, there is a folding step on the chair. The view forward is provided by a split windshield with three solid double-arm wipers. The trick: the window frames can be folded down, and the standard canopy frame can be lowered. So bridges can come.
Behind the driver, the rest of the crew sits on a semi-circular seating area and enjoys the view. To get down to the bathing platform one level lower, you first have to fold down the cockpit table in the middle, then remove the cushions from the rear bench and open the door at the back. From there, you go down a ladder to the large platform with a suitable bathing ladder and rear shower.
There are two normal showers below deck, one at the back in the owner's wet cell and one in the bow in a separate shower room. The toilets are standard equipped with electric pumps, and the washbasins made of Corian have appropriately sized sinks. Exemplary are the slatted frames under the mattress cushions, which ensure ventilation and lying comfort. Under the double berths, there are easily extendable drawers. In the middle cabin with two single beds, which are particularly suitable for children and teenagers, the shipyard installs an ironing board in the wardrobe.
The pantry is conveniently located in the salon. It is practically arranged and equipped, and as a new feature, it offers a special glass cabinet and a pull-out work/storage surface at the stove. Especially for cooling drinks, a new 36-liter cooling drawer under the salon bench at the entrance to the aft cabin is available.
Under the salon floor, the engine is installed on solid foundations. To access it, you have to remove a plate in the middle and fold up two floors on the side. There is plenty of space for service work. The installations show a high level of quality, just like the entire boat processing. Just "Linssen-like".
Conclusion
The Linssen Grand Sturdy 40.0 AC is a high-quality boat that allows for comfortable travel on sea and inland waters. It offers six fixed sleeping places for restful overnight stays. For surprise guests, the salon seating area can be converted.
The Skipper magazine judged at the time:
In the case of the Linssen Grand Sturdy 40.0 AC, the observer honestly does not need to be an expert to attribute something like bestseller genes to the appealing test object.
To put it succinctly – even at the dock, this perfectly proportioned motor cruiser looks like it was made from a single mold. And as soon as you set foot on deck, the first impression is even reinforced by the fully convincing feel. No question, the designers and constructors have done a great job and equipped the newcomer measuring 12.85 x 4.30 m with features that make a decisive difference compared to most competing brands.
