Description
The 2016 Southport 272 Tournament Edition (TE) is a 29-foot center console designed for offshore performance and sportfishing functionality. Built on a vacuum-infused composite hull with a 22-degree deadrise, the boat offers a dry and stable ride in a variety of sea conditions. It features a wide 9'6" beam and a variable deep-V design for improved handing and comfort.
The vessel is powered by twin Suzuki DF200AP outboards, each producing 200 horsepower. At wide-open throttle (6000RPM), the boat reaches a top speed of approximately 48.6 mph (42.2 knots). Cruising speed is around 34.4 mph (29.9 knots) at 4000RPM, offering fuel efficiency of roughly 1.65 mpg. With a 204-gallon fuel tank, the estimated cruising range is approximately 336 nautical miles with a 10% reserve.
The 272TE includes a 30-gallon transom live well, twin insulated in-deck fish boxes (27 gallons each), and an 80-gallon forward coffin box with cushions. The helm area is outfitted with premium diamond-stitched dual bolster helm seats, a leaning post with integrated tackle storage, and a T-top with rocket launchers. Additional seating includes a fold-down transom bench seat and a forward console seat, providing comfort and flexibility for both fishing and cruising.
Electronics include a Simrad multi-function display with chart plotter, an ICOM IC-M330 VHF marine radio, a Fusion MS-NRX300 stereo system with Bluetooth, and a Suzuki digital engine monitoring system that provides real-time speed and fuel economy data. A Ritchie-style compass is also mounted at the helm. Audio is powered by JL Audio speakers in both the bow and cockpit areas.
The boat is equipped with 3-blade stainless steel props, SeaStar hydraulic steering, and twin Suzuki DF200AP four-stroke outboards featuring fly-by-wire throttle control. Both engines run on gas/petrol. The certified maximum passenger capacity is 12.
