Description

MAGICAL

2011 - 42 SABRE Salon Express

Designed and built in the state of Maine, this heritage and sought after style vessel has been one of Sabre's most successful designs.  Built from 2011 through 2020.  She features a touted, stable, fast and proven hull design for true blue water performance.

Her interior is a spacious and efficient layout, highlighted with her full cherry wood joinery.  She offers well designed accommodations for two couples, a very open mid galley along with a comfortable, bright and airy salon featuring a full 360 degree exterior view for you and your guests.

The primary stateroom's island queen berth, with custom mattress has easy access in and out.  With well thought out storage drawers, cabinets and lockers to help complete this area.  The starboard side guest stateroom features an oversized double berth, pocket doors for privacy along with drawers, lockers and cabinet storage.  The head compartment is bright and efficient, comprised of a fully enclosed shower area, electric toilet with macerator, a Corian vanity, stainless steel basin, opening port light, over head opening hatch and good accessible storage.

Her efficient mid galley is one step down from the helm deck/salon area and open under the windshield above.  With a Corian counter top, stainless sink, Grohe fixture, cherry wood drawers, lockers, cabinets, twin Isotherm refrigerator drawers, a stand alone Dometic freezer, two burner electric cook top and microwave oven.  Additionally, there is an under floor commissary, that features stainless steel mesh drawers and more storage.

The comfortable salon is entered from the cockpit through a sliding door.  Upon entering, one's vision will see forward through the helm deck windshield to the bow and beyond.  To port is the large L-shaped settee, with over stuffed cushions for comfort, a high-low table that expands for dining.  To starboard is a swivel occasional chair and entertainment center with its TV on a lift.  The aft salon bulkhead features two fully opening windows for ventilation as desired.

It's a pleasure to skipper this vessel from the helm deck with its full 360 degree views, enhanced with by the power sunroof overhead.  There are adjustable twin Stidd helm chairs for the pilot and navigator.  Within easy reach one finds the EEC, the "joy stick", the updated RayMarine electronics, etc.  The boat features GPS "position hold" system.  And there is a well proportioned starboard side door for quick and easy access out to the extra wide side decks, making this vessel ideal for a single operator while mooring.

Aft, the spacious cockpit is designed for entertaining and leisure with an aft L-settee, a removable expanding table and two each aft facing lounge seats.  Additionally, access to both side decks is open and easy, while still providing hand rails and side rails for additional safety.  A starboard side transom door offers clear access to the transom step and tuck away swim ladder.

The vessel was built using current ideal construction standards, with a one piece resin infused fiberglass hull with an E-glass stringer system and separate deck.  The superstructure is polished gelcoat.  The hull is painted with flag blue epoxy, for long lasting resistance to sea conditions, etc.  And the hull side gold cove stripe adds a little extra elegance.

Mechanically, MAGICAL offers clean and bright machinery spaces.  Everything is in its proper place.  Engine services are complete.  Newer battery banks.  Through hull values are all easily accessible and maintained.  The engines are the electronic 380 hp Cummins.  The generator is a 9 kW Onan.

The Zeus pods were resealed in 2022 at 1200 hours.  The pod shafts were trued and "flame spray" ceramic coated.  New seals and new kingpin adapter plates were installed.  A new Mercathod controller with anodes was also completed.  With this service completed, one should expect excellent operation for years to come.
