Description
82m (269ft) ALFA NERO, built by Oceanco and delivered in 2007, with a refit completed in 2024. Widely regarded as a design reference in the 80m class, the yacht pairs a bold, recognisable profile with a proven Dutch engineering platform and a layout that supports both large-scale entertaining and private use.
At 2159 GT, the yacht offers volume and presence that continue to appeal to experienced owners seeking substance rather than novelty.
ALFA NERO introduced an industry first: a 6m aft infinity pool that converts into a helipad. At launch, this represented a clear shift in how outdoor deck spaces could function on large yachts.
By allowing the main deck aft to transition seamlessly between leisure, entertaining, and aviation operations, the design prioritised flexibility over fixed luxury. This concept went on to influence a generation of large yachts and remains relevant today.
Philosophy of the design
The exterior design by Nuvolari Lenard is defined by proportion, balance, and presence. At launch, ALFA NERO stood apart from prevailing yacht aesthetics, favouring a confident, recognisable profile conceived around scale and real use rather than decoration. This approach aligned the yacht more closely with contemporary architecture than with the decorative traditions that dominated the period, and has allowed the design to age with assurance rather than trend dependence.
The project received early industry recognition for the successful integration of innovation, volume, and usability at 82m, reinforcing its position as a reference yacht from the outset.
The interior reflects the work of the late Alberto Pinto, one of the most influential interior designers, known for major commissions such as The Lanesborough in London, as well as private residences and aircraft interiors, projects where clarity of layout and confidence of scale were essential. On board ALFA NERO, this sensibility translates into spaces that feel composed and deliberate, prioritising volume, light, and proportion over decoration or short-term fashion.
The 2024 refit was approached with restraint, focusing on technical confidence and presentation while respecting the original design intent. Rather than reinterpreting the yacht, the work ensured that the underlying design principles remain intact while meeting modern operational expectations.
Outdoor Living & Lifestyle
- Main deck aft configured for dining, lounging, or large-scale events
- Convertible pool / helipad platform
- Dual hot tube, including a private owner’s deck spa
- Panoramic gym and ocean-view massage room
- Glass elevator serving guest decks
Outdoor areas are generous, adaptable, and designed for real use rather than static layouts.
ALFA NERO accommodates 12 guests in seven cabins, including a full-beam owner’s suite located on a private deck. Guest cabins offer generous volume, discretion, and comfort, while crew areas are arranged for efficient service and smooth operation throughout the yacht.
A defining strength of ALFA NERO is the yacht’s intelligently engineered circulation:
- Clear separation between owner, guest, and crew movement
- Dedicated owner’s deck with private outdoor spaces
- Layout designed to support simultaneous entertaining and private use
This planning allows the yacht to function comfortably at full capacity without compromise.
In today’s market, experienced buyers are increasingly focused on pedigree builds, immediate availability, and yachts with enduring design relevance. New-build timelines for yachts of this size commonly extend several years, increasing demand for high-quality existing yachts with recent refits.
ALFA NERO is offered for sale as a proven flagship yacht, recognised as a reference in the 80m class and refreshed for today following a comprehensive 2024 refit. As the yachting industry continues to evolve, yachts that introduced lasting design ideas and influenced those that followed are increasingly sought after for their long-term relevance and value.
