Description
Head turning good looks makes this Hunt designed and built Surfhunter 29’ very unique. Her original owner built her without a bow rail (a low profile bow rail has since been added) and opening ports in the trunk cabin to create a yacht with a sleek profile more like a custom one-off yacht. She has a stunning appearance with her Blue Tone White gelcoat hull, custom dark blue double boot stripes and all white coach roof/non-skid/deck. Her all-white powder coated windshield and OPTIONAL trunk cabin handrails, white Stamoid Bimini convertible top/curtains/covers, along with her OPTIONAL upgraded all white Ultra-leather seating add to her elegant and distinctive custom appearance. This beauty is further offset with a striking OPTIONAL bright varnished teak toe rail with pop-up bow chocks and OPTIONAL bright varnished teak cockpit coaming boards that together, further compliment the ‘look’. SIDEKICK is a real looker wherever she goes and will certainly be admired by anyone who appreciates clean lines and understated beauty!Â
She is equipped with a bow thruster and a quiet/ fuel efficient Volvo D-6 fully electronic common rail diesel engine with jack shafted stern drive with counter rotating propellers that gives her shallow draft capability and exceptional directional steering ability at speed and in reverse to execute with ease the most difficult docking maneuvers. Her legendary Hunt deep-V hull gives her outstanding handling characteristics with her substantial flared bow and continuous dead rise beginning at 57 degrees and ending at 22 degrees in the stern. Her hull design is a testament to her unmatched directional stability upwind, downwind, abeam, and in quartering seas. The three large below-the-waterline running strakes further enhance the hull’s ability to accelerate and lift (on plane @ 12-13 kts.) and gently and gracefully step down in a following sea. She has a continuous top cruising speed of 28 kts. and a top speed of approx. 34 kts.Â
SIDEKICK has been very well maintained by her current owners at Mattapoisett Boatyard and benefits from a recent sterndrive and a truly nothing-skimped complete engine cooling service, with the engine removed from the boat for careful inspection, touch-up painting etc.Â
REMARKS
The popularity of the Surfhunter 25 generated interest in a larger version, one with a bit more capacity and length, for longer open-water crossings and cozy overnighting. The Surfhunter 29 is more generous in cockpit and accommodations, offering standing headroom belowdecks, as well as a large, enclosed ensuite head with shower.
