Description
Oceanis 473 Clipper from 2002 in excellent condition and updates is a 14-meter yacht for pure cruising designed by
the Finot Studio. The organization of the deck plan is smart, and the internal heights are remarkable. It prefers
strong winds and downwind sailing. The design by the Finot studio is immediately noticeable in the shape of the stern,
which is significantly wider than that of its competitors. The line of the cabin of the Oceanis 473 Clipper is similar to that
of the 393 (a design by Berret Racoupeau), with the windowed step just behind the mast that characterizes the new generation of Oceanis.
The construction using traditional techniques gives the 473 a displacement in the average range of boats in its
category (11200 kg), while the length at the waterline is excellent, ensuring good averages under motor. The
available version for the keel is traditional at 2.10
The design
Dominating the design of the Oceanis 473 Clipper are the almost "exaggerated" heights (around 2 meters everywhere) and the
brightness/ventilation guaranteed by the 19 portholes and hatches present on board. Internal description: The
saloon area is particularly well done with the large overhead windows that provide a sense of greater space and with the rectangular table, comfortable for dining with six and that quickly transforms into the largest of the onboard berths.
Another smart bench, usable (perhaps equipped with an anti-roll canvas) also as a watch berth, runs along the left side. The kitchen of the Oceanis 473 Clipper is L-shaped and is equipped with an electric fridge and a large 220-liter icebox, with plenty of space to store provisions.
The chart table area of the Oceanis 473 Clipper is traditional, with a good-sized work surface and plenty of space to install instruments and an electrical panel with a water level indicator, AC/DC ammeter, and voltmeter. The sizes of the cabins are more than ample, with the forward cabin boasting better height and a dedicated bathroom, and the twin aft cabins "winning" in terms of usable centimeters for the berths.
The latter, unlike what happens on many competing boats in the same range, enjoy more than sufficient ventilation.
