Back in 1985, I’m sure Boston Whaler never had a clue they were building a boat that would become the most desirable in Salcombe. This stunning Boston Whaler Montauk has been through a full resto-mod upgrade process. The hull, having lived for almost 40 years in Salcombe, was a diamond in the rough, but is now a shining example. Starting outside, she has been polished, freshly antifouled in black, fitted with new graphics, and given a completely new bump strip. Moving inside, the boat was stripped back to a bare hull. All fixtures and fittings have been either polished or triple chrome-plated. A FlexiTeek deck has been installed throughout, so she looks a million dollars. All-new cushions with thicker foam and hand-stitched off-white vinyl are fitted throughout, including a custom-made rear bench in the newer style. The original mahogany woodwork has been stripped and refinished in two-pack varnish, with new panels added at the base of the console and the helm. Inside the helm, a new false floor houses the battery and offers neat, tidy storage behind the original vented hatches. A full rewire was carried out, including the nav lights in the bow and stern. An isolator switch and fuse panel are easily located should you need them. Original-style pull switches were used to maintain her classic look while ensuring reliability. A brand-new Yamaha 90hp VMAX engine has been installed, pushing her effortlessly through the water. This brilliant combination makes her fast and agile, while remaining quiet and economical—perfect for everything from cruising to the nearest beach, to fishing, or to water sports. All-new control cables, fuel pipes, filters, and tanks were installed at the same time. A five-year warranty will be registered upon sale. Hydraulic steering makes her a dream to manoeuvre with low maintenance going forward.
