Description
When Cammenga Jachtbouw launched MESERRET II in 1978, it marked the height of the Dutch yard’s ambitions. Drawn by De Vries Lentsch, one of the most influential names in yacht design, she ranked among the largest private yachts in the world, placing the boutique shipyard alongside the era’s most prestigious Northern European builders. She was conceived as a true passagemaker, engineered for long-range independence with a graceful canoe stern. More than four decades later, MESERRET II remains a study in endurance and careful stewardship. A comprehensive rebuild at RMK Marine saw her taken back to bare steel and renewed throughout, introducing modern systems and a new interior while preserving the integrity and character of her original design. With a 6,000-nautical-mile range and continuous Lloyd’s class maintenance, MESERRET II retains her place as one of the great Dutch-built yachts of her generation.
On the main deck aft, a sociable seating area and bar offers a relaxed setting close to the water, complemented by a convertible passerelle that doubles as a swimming ladder. Hydraulic side platforms provide direct access for tender boarding or watersports. The bridge deck serves as the principal exterior lounge, with a shaded dining area and sunpads set into the curve of the aft deck. From here, wraparound decks lead forward to the foredeck with two sofas, jet-ski storage and a crane. Above, the sundeck is devoted to leisure, with a Jacuzzi encircled by a perfect curve of sunpads and a bar built around the funnel structure. Two tenders are stored aft, each with its own crane, and when launched the cleared deck transforms into additional seating, sunbathing, or open-air event space.
Between 2014 and 2015, MESERRET II underwent a full interior reconstruction at RMK Shipyard under Humphreys Yacht Design. The rebuild introduced a new layout and finish that respected her classic architecture while giving the yacht its distinctive personality. Burmese teak joinery and bespoke ironmongery run throughout, complemented by an extensive collection of artwork that brings each space to life. The main salon forms the social heart of the yacht: a bright, open space flowing naturally into the main lobby and onward to a formal dining room distinguished by hand-painted trompe-l’oeil panels. Reached by a spiral staircase, a smaller salon continues the display of art with a sofa and a built-in bookcase, one of many on board. The space opens directly onto the bridge deck aft.
MESERRET II accommodates 13 guests in seven cabins arranged across three decks. Forward on the main deck, the owner’s suite includes a private lounge, dressing room, and large en suite, forming a self-contained residence within the yacht. A VIP suite occupies a space on the bridge deck, while the lower deck houses the remaining accommodation, comprising a second VIP suite, two double cabins, one twin, and one single. Further accommodation sleeps a crew of 18, with two additional single cabins for extra staff or specialist crew.
Powered by twin Paxman Valenta 1,350 hp engines, MESERRET II cruises comfortably at 12 knots and reaches 16 knots at full speed. A 6,000-nautical-mile range allows for transoceanic passage with minimal refuelling. The engine room retains its original layout, continuously maintained and overhauled through successive refit periods. Mechanical systems include three Mercedes generators with parallel running capability, a Van Sway Holland chilled-water air-conditioning plant and Vosper stabilisers. Technical updates span decades of consistent care, with major shipyard periods at RMK Marine in 2014– 15, 2019–20, and 2021, covering full mechanical rebuilds, hull and shaft work, and extensive systems renewals. Between 2023 and 2024, further mechanical works included injector and fuel-system overhauls and electrical insulation testing across all major systems. MESERRET II remains fully maintained in Lloyd’s classification.
