Description
NEREID is truly one of three 47 foot trawlers built by Willard Marine of Costa Mesa, CA. Willard was the first production builder of fiberglass trawler yachts setting the trend for others to follow. NEREID has been carefully maintained and upgraded by her current owners of 20 plus years while living under covered moorage here in the PNW. Displacing 40,000 pounds and sporting ABT Fin stabilizers she moves through our choppy waters smoothly. The aft deck is fully enclosed as well as heated by her diesel heating system making this a year-round cruiser. The walk around decks makes line and fender handling a snap. If fishing and exploring is on your activity list the recent addition of a Steelhead Crane and Apex 12’ tender with 50hp outboard will take you there. The dinghy is equipped with Fishfinder/Chartplotter, twin Magnum electric downriggers and a Ace Brutus pot puller. If you are looking for a solid, comfortable Northwest cruiser, you have just found it.
Accommodations
Stepping through the transom door you find yourself on the enclosed (and heated!) large aft deck. There is a built in seat across the transom with a dropleaf table to save you the hassle of getting out the folding chairs. The cabin top extends all the way aft and drop curtains keep the weather at bay while allowing excellent visibility to watch the scenery go by. The engines are located under hatches here which keeps engine maintenance out of the main salon.Â
Through the salon door you will find a comfortable seating and dining area followed by a well-equipped U-shaped galley. This combined space keeps the communal daily activities together but is large enough to not feel cramped. Moving forward you can either go up to the pilothouse or down to the staterooms. There are two staterooms with the captain’s quarters forward with ensuite toilet and shower compartment. Recent remodeling has created a large centerline berth with Flexima custom mattress.  The VIP guest quarters are located to port and the day head to starboard.
The wheelhouse is large with a long and deep bench seat across the back providing passengers with an excellent view forward. In a pinch this seat can also convert to a berth. Side doors on either side allow access to the side decks. Â There is plenty of room on the foredeck to manage the ground tackle and the large boat deck has plenty of room for the tender, kayaks and whatever else you might need.
