VÉHICULE Racing Team's world champion Jan-Cees Korteland is transforming a 1960s Fjordling 17HT into a high-performance raceboat. The project features a Corvette LS2 V8 engine. Follow the build through videos on VÉHICULE’s YouTube channel.
Fjordling 17HT: A Classic Design
The Fjordling 17HT, designed by Jan Herman Linge, debuted in the 1960s. Its water tunnel hull ensures stability. The deep V-hull with a 24-degree deadrise handles rough waters well. Originally powered by a 20hp outboard, it’s now a restoration favorite.
Jan-Cees Korteland: Expert Racer and Builder
Jan-Cees Korteland, a powerboat racing champion, leads the project. He owns Jan Korteland Watersport in the Netherlands. With decades of experience, he’s known for reliable, high-performance boats. With the VÉHICULE Racing Team, he excels in offshore competitions.
Corvette LS2 Engine Swap
The Fjordling now houses a modified 6.0-liter Corvette LS2 V8, producing around 560 horsepower. The team is reinforcing the hull for high-speed stability.
