Organized by the Yacht Club de France and the Motor Yacht Club de la C?te d'Azur, the Riviera Yacht Rally is scheduled for Sunday, July 8. Also involved in the organization and promotion of the rally is the Yacht Club of Monaco, UBS Bank and Jeweler Fred. According to the organizers, the long-term goal is "re-launching" motorboating in the Mediterranean along the French Riviera.

The Riviera Yacht Rally is open to owners of Yachts from Riva, Mangousta,
L?opards, Pershing, Sunseeker, Princess and Monte Carlo Offshorer. The event is also open to other motoryachts more than 12 meters long capable of speeds of at least 15 knots.

Modeled after an automobile rally, the Riviera Yacht Rally offers its participants three starting points: Monaco, Cannes, Saint-Tropez. Regardless of starting point, each yacht must complete the same distance, 24 nautical miles, in a prescribed time. Competitors will gather at the Island of Sainte Marguerite when the event is completed.

The rally will kick off Friday, July 6 with a grand Gala dinner at the by the Cannes Majestic Hotel. A designer jewelery fashion show organized by Jeweler Fred in collaboration with UBS will be among the evening's festivities.
