Holy mackerel – the press releases just started flying and it’s true, Garmin has made a serious offer to buy Raymarine. According to the London Stock Exchange Market News, Dr Min H. Kao, the Chairman and CEO of Garmin, said “Garmin has long admired Raymarine and I am therefore pleased to be announcing what we believe is a compelling offer to acquire the company.  Raymarine’s portfolio of products is highly complementary to our own. The combination will bring positive benefits to the marine electronics market place and we look forward to working with the Raymarine board in the implementation of the Offer and thereafter with Raymarine’s management and employees to make the combination a success.”

Wow, can ya believe it!? The offer is 15 pence per share to acquire Raymarine and the transaction remains subject to shareholder acceptance and regulatory approval, but Garmin says they expect to get the approvals it needs. This could make quite an impact on the marine electronics world… stay tuned, folks!
