BVI Sailing Cat's Calendar Nearly Full

Here's some good news about charter demand this spring and summer in the British Virgin Islands: The 44-foot sailing catamaran Catalyst is down to just two remaining weeks of availability.
Northrop and Johnson charter broker Kathleen Mullen, who is based in the Virgin Islands, tells me that the last two remaining weeks for possible charter aboard Catalyst this summer are July 6-13 and July 14-21. After that, Catalyst won't be available again until the start of the winter 2010-11 season in November. (And some weeks are already booked for 2011, I'm told.)
It's nice to hear about a longtime charter yacht doing so well in the current economic climate, and I'd be surprised if the reason were anything other than Catalyst's combination of satisfied repeat clients and attractive pricing. Catalyst is a 1991 build whose captain, Alan Roberts, has spent more than 20 years in the hospitality industry. The yacht's weekly base rate ranges from $6,500 for two guests to $10,500 for six guests--an entry-level price point for a quality crewed yacht, for sure.
Even better, if you're a certified scuba diver, the weekly rate includes one dive per day. Since Roberts is a PADI instructor, you can dive right from the boat. Beginners can take lessons, too, for an additional fee.
Any reputable charter broker can help you snap up the last remaining weeks aboard this popular Virgin Islands sailing catamaran.
