charter yacht Big FishBack in April, I told you about plans for the brand-new, 147-foot expedition motoryacht Big Fish to charter in Antarctica from December through March. Now comes word from management company 37 South that those charters will be available not only at a weekly base rate of $195,000, but also at all-inclusive rates for 10-day itineraries in January and February.

So far, plans are to offer the all-inclusive itineraries from January 10-20, January 20-31, and January 31 through February 10. A fourth all-inclusive date range may be added in February depending on demand, the company tells me.

The 10-day, all-inclusive rate will be $350,000, which covers the yacht's regular base rate plus all the extras that guests usually pay on top of that base rate. These include fuel for the yacht, its generator, and tenders; all beverages, including a full bar; all food; a 10-percent crew gratuity; an expedition leader/guide; an ice pilot; expedition clothing and footwear; and all permits required to visit Antarctica.

Round-trip airfare from South America is not included in the rate, but 37 South hopes to have the same plane bringing previous guests back while picking up incoming guests, thus minimizing those costs for charter clients.

Big Fish takes 10 guests with 10 crew. Any reputable charter broker can help you book one of the all-inclusive time slots in Antarctica this winter.
