The Best Flybridge Motor Yacht Brands
Whether you’re looking to maximize comfort, living space, performance, or cruising features, one of these top flybridge motor yachts brands will fit the bill.
Flybridge motor yachts are generally going to be large, luxurious craft and the vast majority are built to exacting standards. Yes, they will be expensive and require quite a bit of maintenance and upkeep, but very, very few would be described as “sub par.” Still, even in this high-end marketplace you will find that some brands are better than others. Which are the best flybridge motor yachts of all? The answer is somewhat subjective, but these top choices belong on everyone’s short-list.
Azimut

Avant-garde Italian design is the highlight of Azimut, which offers an extensive lineup of eye-catching flybridge motor yachts ranging from 53’ to 78’. This brand has a history longer than most, with its founding by Paolo Vitelli dating all the way back to 1969. While Azimut began with a focus on sailing yacht charters, by 1975 it was offering fiberglass flybridge motor yachts designed to break new ground in luxury, performance, and comfort aboard.
These are sleek, sensual yachts, with a sporty attitude and top speeds breaking the 30-knot mark. A signature trait across the model line is the flybridge itself, which is extended and has significantly more seating and relaxation room than found on most competitors. They also offer dedicated crew’s quarters in addition to multiple en suite staterooms, extensive hullside and cabinside windows, massive bow sunloungers, and ultra-plush seating.

Beneteau

One of the world’s largest boat brands, Beneteau has been crafting boats and yachts since 1884. Their lineup is extremely diverse and much of it includes other styles of boats, but they have numerous flybridge offerings in the form of trawlers (including five Swift Trawlers from the 35 to the 62) as well as two Antares models (the 11 and the 12).
Beneteau is known for providing an excellent value in their boats, thanks in no small part to economy of scale and worldwide production. They’re also known for building boats that maximize space and useability, and even smaller models like the 37’0” Swift Trawler 35 have features such as convenient U-shaped gallies, full-size pedestal berths, and enclosed heads with separate stall showers. Note that Beneteau boats also come with an extra touch of tech, thanks to their Seanapps remote monitoring systems.

Cruisers Yachts

Cruisers is best known for their sedan style boats but they do offer two flybridge motor yachts, the Cantius 60 Fly and the 55 Fly. Like the sedans, what sets Cruisers apart from the crowd is an open-air layout that maximizes elbow room and brings the outdoors indoors. They offer windows 360 degrees around the main deck to bring in natural light, extensive hullside windows, and opening aft bulkheads to let in the sea breeze. Cruisers are also known for their stout construction and for offering a high level of customization on their boats, which are proudly built in Wisconsin.

Galeon

Galeon offers eight yachts that fit into this category, from the 41’ long 400 Fly to the 83’2” 800 Fly. The lineup is designed to offer the ultimate in aquatic entertaining for family and friends, with touches like swing-down hullsides that turn into “beach club” style swim platforms, extensive seating arrangements in multiple onboard social zones, and sophisticated modern décor.
They say the devil’s in the details, and fine detailing is certainly a part of every Galeon flybridge motor yacht. Step aboard and you’ll spot touches like custom-milled teak decks, inlaid artistry in tables and furniture, and illuminated accent panels. You’ll also see the use of exotic woods like eucalyptus, lati, and walnut; leather wrapped steering wheels; and diamond stitched upholstery. All are produced in-house to maintain the ultimate quality control, and Galeon has been building these boats for over four decades in Wislina and Straszyn, Poland.

Maritimo

Maritimo doesn’t have a huge number of flybridge offerings in their motor yacht line and none have open bridges, but they do have four models (the M600, M75, M60, and M55) which have enclosed flybridges. These are Australian-built boats, and they’re designed to handle the rough seas and difficult climate found in the land down under. They’re also designed for long-distance, ocean-going cruising while delivering multiple entertainment zones, maximum luxury, and maximum privacy aboard.

Princess Yachts

British builder Princess Yachts not only offers an extensive lineup of flybridge motor yachts, they also build some of the largest and most opulent flybridge motor yachts on the water today. The X class includes three modernistic triple-level boats up to 95’ in length; the Y class ranges from the Y72 to the Y95, the F class has five models from the F45 to the F65; and the sporty S class includes four models from the S62 to the S80. Unlike some builder’s model lines, each of these is exceptionally unique and different from each other in design, performance, and interior layout.
Princess Yachts have an excellent reputation for delivering the absolute pinnacle of comfort and luxury. On the X95 Vista, for example, along with plush interiors and real teak tables and decks, you’ll find over-the-top perks like berths that can be converted from twins to singles at the press of a button, a walk-in wardrobe in the master stateroom, and an electro-hydraulic garage with storage for a tender and water-toys. And even their smallest flybridge motor yacht, the F45, has electrically actuated changeable seating arrangements, convertible sunpads, and app-based remote monitoring and maintenance notifications.

Viking Yachts

The Viking lineup of flybridge motor yachts currently includes 20 different models stretching from 38’ all the way up to 90’. It’s a mix of open flybridges and enclosed flybridges, and in a few cases, there’s even a third story flybridge above the flybridge. Many are as opulent as any yacht on the water, featuring touches like bookmatched-grain woodwork, king- and queen-size pedestal berths, and en suite heads with separate showers. Vikings also come armed to the teeth for pursuing the biggest pelagics, boasting multiple livewells, tuna-sized fishboxes, air-conditioned mezzanines, dedicated rod lockers, and more. Also note that Vikings are known for their high-performance abilities, and most are able to hit speeds in excess of 40 knots and cruise in the mid-30-knot range.
