Sea Pro 292 Offshore: Put the Pro in Professional
The new for 2024 Sea Pro 292 Offshore fills a big gap in this builder’s lineup.
Going from 26’ to 32’ is a huge jump in a center console boat, but the area in-between was uncovered by Sea Pro Boats until this spring’s launch of their newest model: the 292 Offshore. We took one for a spin during the Miami International Boat Show, and found that this boat will plug the gap perfectly for anglers who want a bit more space and beef than a 26’ center console, but don’t want to make that long jump up to the over-30-foot range.

Sea Pro 292 Offshore Design
The Sea Pro 292 Offshore has a straightforward center console design leaning towards the modern mix of comfort and angling acuity. The cockpit is wide-open, and the bow has a large forward console lounger. In front of it are flanking forward-facing seats with removable backrests. The helm stands out as a design highlight, with a glass-bridge-style electronics flat capable of housing a pair of 16” Simrad MFDs (a single unit is standard and a second is optional), dedicated molded-in flats for the throttles and a joystick should you opt for one, and a two-level footrest that ensures a comfortable position whether you have the bolstered leaning post flipped down or flipped up. Note that the post also has flip-down arm rests. Pipework is integrated with the console and curved to match its lines while mating with it aft. Forward, the structure incorporates a three-sided enclosure with opening vents on both sides.

Also note that this is a digital switching boat, with additional tech including Zipwakes Interceptors, an onboard battery management system, and integration with the Sea Pro Connect App. This gets you GPS tracking in partnership with Boat Fix plus anti-theft alarms.
Sea Pro 292 Offshore Construction
The 292 gets its structural support from a one-piece molded stringer grid that’s gel-coated, so it has a fully finished look and is easy to clean. More critically, it’s bonded to the hull with methyl methacrylate, the same type of structural adhesive used by NASA to affix exterior heat-shield tiles to the space shuttle. Tough stuff? Youbetcha. Plus the hull gets a vinyl ester barrier coat to prevent blistering of the gel coat, and belowdecks voids are foam-filled. Sea Pro backs up the construction with a five-year limited warranty and a 10-year limited hull warranty.
Sea Pro 292 Offshore Comfort Features
Usually the fishy features are what gets an angler all jazzed up about center consoles, but in this particular case even the fish-heads among us will also be impressed by the number of gadgets and goodies that will make life aboard more pleasurable. Our test boat had twin cell phone holders/chargers at the helm, plus two more in the bow located in forward pockets convenient to the bow seats. The glove box had USB ports. The back of the hard top had a freshwater rain fall shower — how cool is that?! And you’ll have to try swinging up and folding down the transom bench seat to figure out just how much easier it is to manipulate compared to the fumble-and-struggle folding transom seats found on many other boats.

The feature that’s the most fun, of course, is found in the pair of DF300 Suzuki outboards we had on the test boat. Fire them up and with a heavy boat (four people and full fuel) you’ll see a top-end around 59 mph. Run it with a light load and we’re pretty darn sure this will be a 60-mph ride. And that’s 100 horses less than the max; you can also have a pair of Suzuki DF 350 ATX outboards slung on the transom.
Sea Pro 292 Offshore Fishing Features
The fishing-first attitude of the boat isn’t in question, but there’s more to check out than the standard-issue rodholders, rocket launchers, and twin in-deck fishboxes. The 25-gallon livewells in each corner of the transom, for example, are pressurized so sloshing won’t beat up your baits. That monster-sized 16” Simrad MFD which is standard at the helm comes along with a 2-in-1 Structure Scan transducer. And when you flip up the anchor locker hatch you’ll see a stock windlass. If you’ve ever had a small boat windlass you know how flaky they can be, jamming up on a regular basis, but this one’s a Lewmar drum winch which tends to be far, far more reliable.
